I recently fell into a youtube skincare rabbit hole and learned so much about active ingredients like arbutin, niacinamide, AHA BHA PHAs, centella extract, and SPF and how important they are if you're trying to even out your skin tone, texture, reduce redness/inflammation, and target skin issues like hyperpigmentation, acne scars, dark spots, and rough uneven texture. These are the products that I've seen make the biggest difference in my skin, and I cannot live without them. They're mostly affordable korean skincare products, so I hope this can help if you've been looking to heal your skin from severe acne scarring like me. TIPS //

01 double cleanse
• use a cleansing balm or oil that gently breaks down your makeup, sunscreen, etc
• don't use makeup wipes, micellar water, or products that take some rubbing to work

02 do your research on what active ingredients will best suit your skin issues & needs

03 unlearn the notion of 'drying out your acne'
• marketing has taught us to think the salicylic acids of skincare will solve our acne issues
• in reality they end up stripping our skin, causing inflammation, redness, and more sebum/oils
• it's important to keep your skin (crazy breakouts or not) moisturized and hydrated

04 focus instead on soothing redness & inflammation
• this reduces the look of 'bad' acne overall, both pigment and texture wise

05 wear spf every single day
• the sun will keep your spots dark, if not darken them more
• don't cancel out all the other work you're doing to heal your skin by skipping sunscreen!
