Morocco's interior ministry has said the ruling Islamist Justice & Development Party has beaten its liberal rivals in parliamentary elections. The party topped the poll with 125 seats, or just under a third of the 395 seats on offer. Its main rival -- the Authenticity & Modernity Party -- came second with 102 seats. Interior Minister Mohamed Hassad said the election was "transparent" and had gone well, rejecting accusations of voter fraud. However, at nearly seven million voters, turnout was a disappointing 43 percent. Meanwhile, it was reported an Islamist candidate was attacked and wounded outside a polling station in the country's capital, Rabat.
