Turning on subtitles or closed captions on Disney Plus are great if you have hearing issues, or if you just want to try and pick up more details about the show you're watching. In this video I'll show you how to turn on subtitles or closed captions on Disney Plus on an iPhone or iPad, Android, Roku, or Xbox One.
First, let's look at how to turn on closed captions on Disney Plus on an iPhone, iPad or Android device.
Step 1. Launch the video you want to watch with subtitles on the Disney Plus on your iPhone, iPad or Android device.
Step 2. Tap the screen. The on-screen interface appears.
Step 3. Click the icon that looks like a speech bubble in the on-screen interface in the upper right corner of the screen. The Audio and Subtitles lists appear.
Step 4. Click the language you want to see subtitles or closed captions for in the Subtitles menu to place a check mark to the left of that option. Close the audio and subtitles menu. You'll be returned to your current video, where your selected subtitles or closed captions will automatically be displayed toward the bottom of the screen. If your language selection for subtitles or closed captions is available on any other videos you watch on Disney Plus, they will be automatically displayed until you turn off your chosen subtitles or closed captions.
Next, let's look at how to turn on subtitles or closed captions on Disney Plus on a Roku device.
Step 1. Launch the video you want to watch with subtitles on the Disney Plus on your Roku device.
Step 2. Press the "Asterisk" button on your Roku remote. The Options menu appears.
Step 3. Use the D-pad on the Roku remote to set the Closed Captioning option to either On Always or On Replay to specify when your subtitles or closed captions are displayed.
Step 4. Next, move down the menu and select "Accessibility." The Accessibility screen appears. Select "Captioning Track" and then use the left and right buttons on the D-pad to change the captioning language. The language associated with your subtitles or closed captions will change automatically. If your language selection for subtitles or closed captions is available on any other videos you watch on Disney Plus, they will be automatically displayed until you turn off your chosen subtitles or closed captions.
Finally, let's look at how to turn on subtitles or closed captions on Disney Plus on your Xbox.
Step 1. Launch the video you want to watch with subtitles on the Disney Plus on your Xbox.
Step 2. Press up on the left analog stick to display the on-screen menu, and then press up on the left analog stick again to open a Subtitles and Audio menu along the top of the screen.
Step 3. With "Subtitles" selected along the top, use the left analog stick to highlight the language you want the subtitles or closed captions to appear in, and then press "A" to place a check mark to the left of that language. Subtitles or closed captions will now appear on the screen in your selected language. If your language selection for subtitles or closed captions is available on any other videos you watch on Disney Plus, they will be automatically displayed until you turn off your chosen subtitles or closed captions.
