As the global leader in shipbuilding, China is utilizing digital tools to help improve efficiency and accuracy.

At a shipyard in Shanghai, designers use 3D modeling technology to preview a ship's interior before actually building it, which allows for a more streamlined construction process.

The shipyard has also introduced robot-based smart production lines to manufacture key shipbuilding components.

Despite a gloomy global market, China's shipbuilding industry has maintained its robust performance this year.

From Januargy to October, Chinese firms were responsible for 67 percent of all new ship orders world-wide.
