Twisted Donuts
3 cups (385g) all purpose flour
2 tablespoons (28g) butter
1 packet of instant yeast (about 2¼ teaspoons: 7 grams)
3 tablespoons ( 37g) white sugar
1 cup (250ml) milk
1 egg
½ teaspoon (3g) salt
For coating - 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon powder and 2 tbs fine caster sugar
Cooking oil for frying - make sure the donuts are floating and not touching the bottom of your pan. Mine was bout 3 cups.
Tips:
If you are using instant yeast, you do not need to wait 10min to activate the yeast.
If you are not using instant yeast, you have to activate it by combining the milk and sugar and setting it aside until it becomes foamy.
Softness of the dough depends on your kneading, make sure it is well kneaded and well risen.
Fry one donut to make sure you have enough oil and is hot enough. The donuts turn darker when remove from the oil so don’t wait until it turns to golden brown.
You can use this dough to make round donuts as well.
