Colourising still photographs from the past is already challenging enough but Sam’s team face an even tougher task, to do the same to film.
The original film is amongst the earliest to ever be recorded in Egypt and in order to restore this historic footage Sam’s team must clean, convert and sharpen the tapes before researching which colours to add to each shot.
As the results reveal the texture of the temple wall and the light on peoples clothing and faces, gradually the Egypt of Howard Carter’s time comes to life.
Join us as we piece together new revelations and seek to uncover ancient Egyptian truths in King Tut In Colour, part of Tut’s 100th Anniversary, all this weekend, only on National Geographic UK
