PRICE HILL, Ohio (Deb Dixon) -- Police were able to arrest and convict a suspect in a triple shooting by launching a plan to bring him in on other charges.
The fight that happened outside a gas station on Warsaw Avenue in October had to do with a previous fight. Bullets flew as three men are shot and run for their lives.
The shooter casually walked away, as did the driver of their getaway car. The victims are quickly identified but they won't give up the name of the man who shot them.
It started that night when a tipster told police where to find the shooter and driver.
A cop tried to stop the car that sped off and later wrecked. Both men bailed out. Police waited for the driver at his house. And the passenger and shooter? He left a clue that let science identify him. He left his DNA.
Detective Longworth started watching Watkins. He watched him sell heroin. Undercover officers helped build a drug trafficking case against him.
"Watkins was arrested when he left his home in Price Hill on drug trafficking warrant.
Inside police found surveillance system a gun and ammunition.
By finding away to get Watkins off the street, investigators believe they prevented more violence.
Everyone in the video that launched the investigation is now off the streets. All were charged with felony crimes. Non related to the shooting.
Watkins got out of prison in January 2013 after doing seven years for aggravated burglary, felonious assault, robbery and abduction.
He is still in the Hamilton County Jail in connection with the latest charges.
