#whyisign (each student spelling out each letter of #whyIsign)
Student 1: I sign because I always talk with my hands. ASL feels natural. ASL is an emotional, powerful language. I love it!
Student 2: I sign because I have always been interested in language. I think communication is important. The more languages you know, the more people you can communicate with.
Student 3: My major is Speech Language Pathology because I want to help people communicate. I think people should use many tools to communicate. I sign because Deaf culture is beautiful, and hearing culture is beautiful. I want to live in a world where many different people connect together.
Student 4: Our world depends on communication. I want to become an interpreter because everyone deserves to learn and understand information. Interpreting is used in hospitals, schools, law offices, and police stations. ASL is important, like all languages.
Student 5: I sign because I want to work with Deaf kids. As a future Speech Language Pathologist, I think communication is important for everyone, regardless of the method.
Student 6: I like signing because I want to communicate with patients after I become a nurse.
Student 7: I sign because I love the language. When I was 5 years old, I learned sign language. My grandpa, in his church, would sing. I would watch and sign for the Deaf. I continued to learn as I grew up.
Student 8: My brother is deaf. I sign with him so he doesn’t feel left out.
Student 9: I have always loved communication and feel that language is important for the quality of life. I was attracted to ASL because my twin brother was born deaf in one ear. We need to communicate and everyone needs to connect.
Student 10: I sign because ASL is a powerful storytelling language.
Student 11: Our whole lives are stories. Everyone should have the opportunity to tell their own story. I sign because I want to know everyone’s unique story.
All say "Go Klawz!!" at the end. :)
