The first emperor of China was Qin Shi Huang, who ruled from 221 BC until his death in 210 BC. He is known for unifying China for the first time and establishing the Qin Dynasty, as well as for his ambitious building projects, including the Great Wall of China and a massive tomb complex for himself that included an army of terracotta warriors. Qin Shi Huang was also known for his strict laws and harsh punishments, including the burning of books and the burying alive of scholars who opposed his rule. Despite his achievements, his legacy is controversial, and he is often criticized for his authoritarian rule and brutal tactics.
