In this video, I show you how you can make your own custom audio cables using these Audio over Ethernet adapters. I will show you the stereo 3.5mm (or 1/8in jack) adapter and the RCA (or phono) Ethernet adapter. These retail for around $15 for the pair, though they sell many different kinds with XLR, 1/4" (or 6.3mm), TS, TRS and many more. The beauty of these adapters is you can clip and unclip them as you need, making for a very versatile setup. You can also run these over a longer distance, since Ethernet cabling is more resilient than standard audio cabling. Using Cat5e, you can run around 200 feet. Using Cat6, approximately 400 feet and finally, using Cat7, approximately 660 feet. This is great if you need to navigate walls, obstacles, stairs, etc to get to and from your audio source. This simply can't be done with regular audio cable. You get a lot of signal loss after around 50 to 100 feet. Finally, category 5, 5e, 6 and 7 cabling is shielded from electromagnetic interference and devices that emit RF. This means you'll always get crystal clear audio.
