It is estimated there are over 1,300,000 alligators living in Florida. It has been said many times, if there is a fresh body of water, there will be a gator living in it. The Villages, with its approximately 450 bodies of water, is the perfect home for alligators. It is common to see an gator sunning itself on the edges of many golf course ponds in The Villages. It was my intention to get some quality footage of a gator using my DJI Drone. What I hadn't bargained on was a gator hunting my drone. Not realizing that I had turned the 4x zoom off, I flew well within striking distance of the gator's mouth. When I made visual line of sight to the drone, it was just inches, and seconds away from being made gator food. Using a last ditch attempt to save the drone, I thrust the drone forward at the same time the gator leapt out of the water snatch the drone out of the air…..
