Symptoms of garlic maturity are as follows:
1. Lower two leaves will dry and died out.
2. Tips of almost all leaves will start drying.
3. Floral buds or knots will be formed on 10-15 percent plants.

If all these indications are seen go for immediate harvesting of garlic crop either manually or with machines available in the market now a days.


For long term storage of garlic cloves following measures should be adopted.

1. After harvesting dry the whole plants in shade for 2-3 weeks.

2. After drying in shade store garlic in an airy room, store, garage or shed in such a way that bulb are facing outward.
3. After harvesting garlic cloves don't wash with water just remove the dirt with brush or rubbing by hand only.
In this way you can store garlic for long term with out loss of quality.
