Playing around with some MAPP gas. Someone decided to come along and break most of the bricks of my coal forge, so I had to build a new one. I bought some MAPP 2400 C with a Sievert Powerjet, and things seem to get hot real fast. The gas forge is not ideal, for several reasons. It is square, meaning air circulation is not as good as a round forge, its made out of regular bricks that dont insulate as well as insulating fire brick, but it works. It's main purpose is to hold a pocket of air that is a lot hotter than the outside air.
Heat anodizing essentially means coloring the steel with heat. The temperature required for a blue color spectre is generally around 300 C / 570 F. There is a whole range of colors you can get seen here: [ Ссылка ]
It is really easy to over heat, so if you are going for a certain color, go slow.
