Today, we’re exploring the first district along the road from Finkenberg. Perched on the mountainside above the town are the charming hamlets of Schöneben and Gemais. Gemais, a farming community situated at 1450 meters, holds the distinction of being placed under monument protection due to its stylistic coherence, which dates back to the 17th century. Originally stemming from a former Schwaighof, Gemais has evolved into a unique settlement.
The Geiseljoch, positioned at an elevation of 2292 meters above sea level along the route to the Inn Valley, once served as a bustling trade pathway for the exchange of goods between Hall in Tirol and Innsbruck. And from Vorderlanersbach, a single-cable gondola whisks visitors to the Rastkogel ski area, seamlessly connected to the neighboring Penken and Eggalm ski regions.
