Patrick ‘PJ’ Johnson - May 28, 2021 - Anthony’s Cari-Jazz Artiste of the Day
Patrick ‘PJ’ Johnson is keyboardist, guitarist, singer, arranger, and producer from Trinidad and Tobago. ‘PJ’ began his musical journey playing guitar and organ in various school and church choirs and played upright bass in the student band at QRC under the guidance of Scofield Pilgrim. ‘PJ’ also plays bass, cuatro, and banjo.
His first ‘paying gig’ was with the band, Genesis – a home grown combo from Clifford Street, Belmont, who enjoyed playing at the Chaconia Inn, Maraval for a few years. From there, his next adventure happened when he joined the Blue Ventures and their subsequent tours throughout the Caribbean and North America.
Working with Derek Walcott, he was the orchestra leader for the theatre production, ’Steel’. He later joined Lord Superior’s Vintage Caravan, and David Bereaux and Friends.
With four decades of achievements, ‘PJ’ now owns and operates a Home Music Production Studio having produced two of his own Christmas albums and various singles for several artists. He enjoys the creative process in Music Production and hopes to keep contributing to the local and international music arena.
