Taiwan launched a rationing scheme for face masks on February 6, 2020, as part of its efforts to ensure a consistent supply amid the coronavirus outbreak. All Taiwanese and foreign nationals are allowed to buy two masks per week at a price of NT$5 (US$0.17) each on alternating days using a system based on ID numbers. On the Chinese mainland, there is a severe shortage of face masks. And in the city of Macau, masks purchases have been limited to a maximum of 10 masks every 10 days for 8 patacas (US$1) per person.
