The way this Drongo-Cuckoo ate the Malayan Eggfly caterpillar was very interesting. It repeatedly hit the caterpillar against the tree trunk, as if trying to remove the dendritic processes on the spiny body of the caterpillar. Thenn, after a very, very long while, it finally swallowed the delicacy. One wonders how long this cuckoo took to fill up its tummy!
Square-tailed Drongo-Cuckoos are possibly uncommon residents in Singapore, but the one spotted here is likely to be a rare migrant.
They are found in the Indian subcontinent & Southern China, with the Northern population migrating southwards to SE Asia in winter.
