The most common reason for a child aged between 5-9 years old to be admitted to hospital for a surgical procedure is to have dental extractions under general anaesthetic. This talk will examine the trend in children’s oral health and the position that the Faculty has taken since 2011.
Mr Matthew Garrett is the current Dean of the Faculty of Dental Surgery. He is a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry at the Eastman Dental Hospital. His main clinical and research interests lie in the dental management of those affected by developmental or acquired dental defects.
