In this episode, we practice spin recoveries in the Cessna 172! In Canada, a spin recovery is a tested item on the CPL flight test, while PPL candidates must be shown a spin at some point during their training.

HASEL checks and clearing turns were done before we started the spins, but were not shown in the video.

The Basic Spin Recovery technique is as follows:

1. Power Idle
2. Apply and hold full and opposite rudder to the spin
3. Apply forward pressure on the yoke
4. Hold the control inputs until the rotation stops
5. Neutralize rudder and level the wings
6. Climb back to recover lost altitude
