Copper Island Trail in Shuswap Lake
Beautiful day for a canoe ride and a short hike to the top of Copper Island. When you search on google map the area of Shuswap, you'll notice this island in the middle and that's Copper Island, the name probably came from its rustic color from afar but I don't think there's copper in there at all, not sure lol The ride to get across can be rough and windy, so I recommend to go as early as you can when there's no waves yet, coz usually the boats that are out on the lakes causes them.
We cruise around the island then found a spot to dock our canoe, secure it then we're off to hike the top of Copper Island...amazing, amazing 360 degrees views of the lake and its neighboring towns from Blind Bay to Scotch creek all the way to the narrows. It's just a short and breezy hike as the trails are shaded, and a bit outdated or shall I say unmaintained coz of all the tree branches and some trees lying across on some of the trails but still accessible though.
Under 3 km hike to do the loop, there's some benches there to have a quick break amazing lakefront view again, quite a few viewpoint up there, every corner you turn another beautiful viewpoint. This is a must see and do when you're out here in the Shuswap.
