Croats in the western part of the Bosnian town of Mostar have been demonstrating against the local E-U administrator. A Croat crowd burnt an effigy of Hans Koshnik, a man linked with the deal to give Muslims and Croats equal rights to govern Mostar. The Croats say Mr Koshnik represents evil.
Residents of western Mostar celebrated the end of the Mardi Gras on Tuesday by burning a puppet of Hans Koshnik , the EU Mostar administrator who they say represents evil.
This is an annual tradition which dates back to ancient times.
Anything which they consider "evil" is burnt as a way of purging unpleasant things which have transpired in the past year.
For the Croats in Mostar, Koshnik epitomises "evil" for being central to the accord which will give Croats and Muslims equal rights to govern it.
Part of the accord which was implemented today ran into difficulties.
In West Mostar, a flat was struck by a bullet from the eastern side, according to its elderly resident, almost killing her grandaughter.
