Consistent with our Critical Incident Video Release Procedure, SAPD will release video from the Officer Involved Shooting that occurred on April 28, 2024 in the 100 block of Concho Alley.
Below is a brief synopsis of the critical incident:
Officers were working their posts near a crowded stage at Fiesta De Los Reyes. In the middle of a large crowd, Cisneros fired gunshots towards Valdez (SID: 1163767). Cisneros then took off running down Concho Alley and Valdez chased after him. Officers immediately ran down Concho Alley in the direction of Cisneros and Valdez. Two gunshots can be heard. Soon after, additional gunfire coming from the Sergeant and an officer is heard. At this time, investigators believe that Valdez shot Cisneros and then the officer and the Sergeant shot Valdez. Valdez was pronounced at the scene. Cisneros was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. That night, two bystanders were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two other bystanders were treated at the scene. The Sergeant involved was also struck by debris. An additional bystander reported the following day that he was struck by gunfire but has yet to provide a statement to the Homicide Unit. Two loaded handguns were recovered at the scene. The officers involved are Sgt. Joseph Fech #3030, 13 years of service and Officer Zachary Krok #1327, 5 years of service.
The body worn camera video in the links below does not include the body worn camera of the officers who fired their weapon. The body worn camera of the officers involved were activated after the shooting occurred.
As with all officer-involved shootings, the District Attorney’s Office is reviewing the incident.
