This is a job, I might not of done. Reason being. I didn't realize I would be working on it for several partial days. But the car, a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire. ( has good air conditioning) A lot of my old cars don't have air or it's not working. The cost of the parts at least $500. I tried to stay away from using stuff from the junkyard, figuring being in the mid-west, the junkyard donors, would be as rusty as the one I'm working on So I used all new parts. I suppose there after market parts, but new.
I get started by, sizing up where all the bolts are holding the subframe crossmember. Yah, I know, I took a long time in the intro, going over and comparing, and figuring out where all the bolts were holding it. Trying to realize what a sub frame crossmember is, and how to remove it. I'll admit it wasn't until I'm ready to do part 2 the reassembly of both power steering rack & the sub frame, that I finally realize there must be 2 frames. And this is the lower level frame , called the Sub Frame. Must be why I didn't have to monkey around with the motor, and it's mounts.
Anyway part 1 I take it apart and decided that yes it's really rusty but hasn't let loose yet, so the problem must be the power steering rack jumped. ( at least 1 x) steering wheel changed positions.
Shouldn't do that. Should be straight across, not straight up and down, All though I didn't test drive it.
Just listen to what my wife said about it . Then when I put it on ramps I went under and seen the
lower crossmember in BAD SHAPE.

Update: it's 8 pm I've made most of the part 2 video on the reassembly. Watch it and find out the mistakes I made, as I find out a mistake, ( from part 1) and I learned what not to do, trying to put the power steering rack bolts in , and I had to run to the junk yard to look at a 2003 Sunfire, to see if I was running the
power steering pressure line thru in the correct spot. As i thought that is what was stopping the rack bolts from going in.
But it was something else, I wasn't doing right.
