At LIFE, we use a methodology called Project-Based Learning, or PBL for short.
PBL takes all the core academic skills a student needs to learn and integrates them into real-life scenarios that a) foster a child's love of learning, and b) help them internalize the skills for lifelong retention.
Each unit is based around a "driving question" or important problem that needs attention in the students' world.
For this unit, our preschool class chose farming, and the unit was titled "The Giving Farm". Our three and four-year-olds spent 9 weeks learning WHERE food comes from (hint: NOT the grocery store) and how to farm with kindness, so that the plants and animals can continue to give.
Plus, the following skills were strategically woven into the unit: math, reading, writing, art, gross and fine motor development, teamwork, organizational skills, presentation skills, work ethic, pride in their work, and overall excellence.
Our kiddos were so PROUD to present their work to their families and loved ones!
Stay tuned for the final outcome.
