Employee engagement is like an adrenaline shot.
The problem with it is that it doesn’t make any changes to the core workplace practices of the organization.
When an employee starts working for a company, they are engaged and excited to be there.
But over time, satisfaction starts to dip, so the company introduces perks, like free food, in an attempt to keep employees happy.
And then employee engagement slowly rises, stays there for a while, and then drops back down and another perk is introduced.
Employee experience, on the other hand, is changing the entire workplace practice in your organization for your people. It means giving them a better environment to work in, better tools to use at work, and better leaders that genuinely care about them.
When you invest in a physical good, over time, satisfaction starts to go down. When you invest in an experience, over time, satisfaction goes up.
You should invest in employee experience to attract and retain the best talent.
