From Vintage Mantovani 1993
Mantovani became the "King of Strings" in the 50s with his cascading strings arrangements and pristine quality recordings. This album demonstrates his early talent as a leader of a pre-war hotel band featuring strings, guitar, mandolin, and accordion.
"Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" is a show tune written by American composer Jerome Kern and lyricist Otto Hardash for their 1933 operetta Roberta. It was performed by Irene Dunne for the 1935 film adaptation costarring Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, and Randolph Scott.
