(23 Jan 2018) NAOMI WATTS REMEMBERS HEATH LEDGER: 'HIS LIFE WAS JUST TOO SHORT'
"His life was just too short."
Naomi Watts is remembering her former boyfriend Heath Ledger on the tenth anniversary of the actor's death.
The actress posted a tribute to Ledger on Instagram and spoke about him at the premiere of her new film "Ophelia" on Monday (22 JANUARY) at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
"He did some incredible work – a powerful artist who contributed to our industry in such a major way. I'll never forget his work and who he was - his spirit," Watts told The Associated Press. "He's left a big mark on me and so many of my friends that we all hung out together with. It's so sad that he didn't reach his full potential. I mean, he did. He did so much, but there was -- his life was just too short. He's got a beautiful daughter and his family. He's left a fantastic legacy."
Ledger was found dead in his New York City apartment on January 22, 2008.
His death, at age 28, was declared an accidental prescription overdose.
Ledger was an award-winning actor who was nominated for a best-actor Oscar for his performance as a gay cowboy in "Brokeback Mountain."
During filming, he met Michelle Williams, who played his wife in the film.
The two had a daughter, Matilda.
