This is the full build video of my Heller kit of the Williams F1 in 1/43 scale, in the context of a starter set challenge. I saw Model Minutes video where the starter set challenge was presented:

I liked the idea and I will try to do my best with the rules set up by Model Minutes.
The basics are that you are only allowed to use the content of the starter set, a modelling knife and some water for the decals.
The Heller kit is quite old, with a lot of flash and quite crude molding in places. The decal sheet was of good quality but application to the compound curves was very tricky and in some cases impossible without the use of decal setting solutions.
The paint was very thick, and the rules stated that it was not allowed to thin it. This leaved very prominent brush strokes on the finished model.
The build process gave me contrasting views on the build process. On one hand it was very frustrating to not use the tools and materials I'm used to, I'm quite detail and "perfection" driven. On the other hand it was liberating to "just build" as the set was intended to be built. And it was of course a flash back to my youth and the first attempts of modelling. I encourage other builders to try building in other ways than you are used to, this broadens your perspective and will enrich your hobby experience.
