As the children of God we are to find life in Him. He is our source in all we face in this life. He is our empowerment. Just as He lives in us through faith, He desires that we would be vessels in which He expresses His life through us. We must not forget that everything we do in self-sufficiency is just wood, hay and stubble and will all burn up at the judgment. He gave His life to us that as we live in and from Him our lives are actively surrendering to all He desires to do through us and this is the beauty of being an agent in building His kingdom with gold, silver and precious stones. This is possible because He is our righteousness. He makes us righteous and living out righteousness is evidence we are His.
