Mambattiyan has been co written, produced and directed by Thiagarajan, Mambattiyan starring his son Prashanth as the title character. Mambattiyan, also starring Meera Jasmine, Prakash Raj, Vadivelu and Mumaith Khan in other pivotal roles, is a remake of the 1983 Tamil blockbuster Malaiyoor Mambattiyan that starred Thiagarajan himself and Saritha. Mambattiyan is all about When Prashanth's father is killed by a landlord, Prashanth kills him and escapes to the forest. Prashanth and his group steal from the rich and serve the poor. Prakashraj plans to nab him come what may.
