HARRY BELAFONTE: Life story of a legend, activist and pioneer of modern entertainment

His name is Harry Belafonte.

Sharing the name of that artist is taking us back into a painful history and racial struggles that are still vividly present in our society. Harry Belafonte is not just a singer, actor or activist. He is one of the cornerstones of the social changes of the end of the 20th century. Through every form of art, from Calypso to Hollywood, he has been seeking this inner reconnection and found self reaffirmation through out his career. His songs like Day O, The Banana Boat Song, Jamaica Farewell, Jump in the line and Mathilda Mathilda or Malaika with Miriam Makeba are now classic of modern music. His commitment for equality with Martin Luther King, humanism for peace and Africa will remain model in our modern society. The world has learnt so much from him and his achievements have been rewarded by Grammy Awards, Kennedy Centre Honors, a Tony and Emmy Awards and much more. I have a never-ending admiration for him. He is now resting in power but his legacy is eternal.
