STORYLINE:
US troops have begun to move into Haiti's capital, Port-au-Prince, from the country's international airport.
Both US and French marines have arrived in Haiti. Among their first tasks will be to fan out and protect key sites in the capital, including diplomatic missions.
The troops will eventually form part of a multinational force approved by the U.N. Security Council.
