Health Minister Satyendar Jain said 197 cases of black fungus have been reported in Delhi. The data, recorded till Wednesday, includes non-residents who have come for treatment. Jain added that many inoculation centres for the 18-44 age group are being shut across the city due to vaccine shortage. “Delhi registered 3,231 new Covid cases in 24 hours, and the positivity rate stands at 5.5%. Although numbers have come down, I urge everyone not to take the threat lightly. Always wear a mask when you are stepping out for emergency services,” he said. “Till Wednesday night, Delhi hospitals reported 197 cases of black fungus. Black fungus is happening because of high blood sugar levels and use of steroids,” he added. Jain further said, “We do not have vaccines for the 18-44 age group, many centres will be shut today. Delhi exhausted Covaxin stock days ago, Covishield doses will be consumed soon. Delhi has a good distribution network, can inoculate upto 4 lakh people per day." #Covid19 #blackfungus #SatyendarJain
