The International Year of Light 2015 and Light based-Technologies (IYL) recognizes the importance of raising global awareness of how light-based technologies promote sustainable development and provide solutions to global challenges in energy, education, agriculture, and health.
This evening we are here to celebrate the role the United States has played in developing innovative light-based technologies, now ubiquitous in our lives.
Our speakers have been invited to share impressive accomplishments that have garnered Nobel Prizes (two Laureates), the status of a leading lighting company with roots in the early days of electric light (GE), and the exciting development of the funding of a public/private photonics institute for manufacturing innovation (CEO AMI Photonics).
