Since communism fell in 1990, Greece has drawn some 600,000 migrant workers from its poorer northern neighbour Albania. Those workers, as a rule usually men, have shaped the Albanian economy, fuelling consumer spending and a once-booming construction sector.
Here at the Greek-Albanian border crossing of Kapshtica, many are returning home for short breaks and intend to come back but know that there is no end soon to Greece's debt crisis, they'll have nothing to come back to.
