A group of beach lifeguards work on the Pacific coast. They are always at their post and protect vacationers from accidents on the water. The protagonist, an experienced lifeguard Mitch Buchannon, and his young colleague Matt Brody accidentally learn that their beach is endangered. The hostess of a pretentious nightclub, part-time local "drug lord", is trying to get her hands on the coast. The lady buys up all the real estate, not shunning intimidation and murder of land owners.
