What makes up a perfect paddle stroke?
Watch @luchetto_naish_rider demonstrate these 6 key steps…
🏄🏼♂️Body position: Start by standing up straight with your feet shoulder-width apart, knees slightly bent, and hips facing forward. Your weight should be evenly distributed on the board. Keep your eyes focused on the horizon to maintain balance.
🏄🏼♂️Reach: Reach forward with the paddle to fully extend your arm, keeping your shoulders level and your torso centered over the board. Place the blade in the water as far forward as possible.
🏄🏼♂️Catch: As you begin to pull the paddle back, rotate your torso and plant the blade in the water. Keep your arms straight as you engage your core and pull the blade back towards your feet.
🏄🏼♂️Power phase: Once the blade is fully submerged, use your upper body and core muscles to drive the paddle back towards your feet, keeping the blade perpendicular to the water. Apply pressure evenly with both arms.
🏄🏼♂️Release: As the paddle approaches your feet, lift it out of the water and repeat the stroke on the other side. Maintain a smooth, fluid motion throughout the stroke.
🏄🏼♂️Recovery: Bring the paddle back to its starting position and repeat the stroke on the other side.
