President William Ruto in Sunday dared his party MPs to oppose the finance bill 2023 saying he will be waiting to see how they will vote.
The President's remarks according to critics amount to intimidation of his party MPs who may have had a different opinion on the contentious bill expected to be subjected to a vote this month.
The bill proposes a raft of tax increments among them the contentious house levy that will see salaried Kenyans get taxed three percent of their monthly pay.
The clamor to support or oppose the bill is expected to gather pace this week as both the opposition and the government take a public pledge on the bill.
For Azimio, the vote against the bill will be testimony that they stand with Kenyans while those who support will be traitors.
