This multiple-award winning 1967 Chevrolet Corvette Coupe represents the high water mark in development of the revered second-generation Sting Ray with its rare combination of big-block Mark IV powerplant and factory air conditioning. Big-block engine choices doubled from two to four for 1967, including two versions equipped with the sophisticated new Tri-Power carburetion system utilizing three inline-mounted Holley 2-barrel carburetors on an aluminum intake manifold. Restored to like-original condition by famed Naber Brothers of Houston, Texas, it has won the highly coveted MCACN Triple Diamond Award recognizing Corvettes that have earned Bloomington Gold Certification, the NCRS Top Flight Award and MCACN Concours Gold.
Per its VIN, it was produced in May 1967 and sold new at Jerry McCarthy Chevrolet Co. in Detroit, Michigan. A full 55 years later, it shows an odometer reading of just 17,595 miles, testament to a lifetime of devoted care and preservation. It retains its original drivetrain, comprising the matching-numbers L68 427/400 HP big-block V-8 with Tri-Power carburetion and transistorized ignition, a Muncie M21 close-ratio 4-speed manual transmission and a 3.70:1 Positraction differential.
In addition to factory air conditioning, its list of optional extras includes side exhaust, power steering and brakes, Uniroyal Laredo 7.75-15 blackwall tires on finned, aluminum bolt-on wheels, power windows, telescopic steering, shoulder harnesses and head rests, speed minder and an AM/FM radio. It is one of only 815 1967 Corvettes finished in Tuxedo Black paint, here in combination with a red stinger stripe and black interior, and impresses with award-winning documentation that includes the NCRS-validated tank sticker, Protect-O-Plate, owner’s manual, wheel trim and radio instructions, an NCRS Shipping Data Report and the window sticker, which is affixed to the driver’s side window.
