Prasar Bharati Archives presents 'Tehreer' Munsi Premchand Ki.. which is a small collection of tales dealing with harsh realities of poverty and daily struggles of city-folks. An adaption of some of the finest works from famous Indian writer Munshi Premchand.

कफ़न (Kafan)
Coming from Prem Chand, often a half-hearted realist and an idealist-reformist, it is an amazing story. Gheesu and Madhav are a lazy father and son duo who shirk work even when they are living hand to mouth. Budhiya, Madhav's wife is the only one in the house who restores some order. But subjected to abject poverty she passes away when in labor.

The non-chalance with which the wretched two enjoy themselves at the liquor shop feasting and drinking, using the money they have been given for buying the shroud and wood for cremation while Budhiya's body lies in the hut - forms the core of the story.
