With time running out on our Chinese visa we were unable to ride our bike all the way across western China as we had originally planned. So, we cycled from the Vietnam border north to the city of Lanzhou in Gansu Province and then took the fast train 2000 km west to Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Province.
