IS STRESS MAKING YOUR HAIR FALL OUT? LEARN ABOUT TELOGEN EFFLUVIUM
Telogen effluvium is a stress-induced shedding that occurs 90 to 120 days after a stressful event. A stressful event can really be anything for anybody, but typically, I see it when it's dealing with a car crash, a move, some type of surgery, a divorce, or something that caused a powerful, stressful, trauma-based disruption in someone's life. Essentially, what happens is 90 to 120 days after that event occurs, your hair will end up, as a whole, beginning to shift into the telogen phase, and upwards of 33% of the hairs that are growing at that point in time can shift into this phase. You can, over a course of usually 6 months, sometimes longer, lose between 25 and 33% of the overall volume on your scalp.
