To start, anyone who watches this who has Bii should know this is a video in support of you not against you. I explant 10-15 patients a month. Some of the data in this video surely is old data.
"There are women with breast implants who present with various systemic symptoms and believe that these are related to their breast implants. They refer to these symptoms as Breast Implant Illness."
The key here is that there is no actual diagnosis yet. We do have a diagnosis code on its way from the American Medical Association thank goodness.
At this point, it's all self-diagnosis. Does that mean that it's not real? No. It just means that we haven't been able to reach a definitive answer at this time with a test. I have witnessed women getting better with explantation first hand.
So should you remove your implants if you're not currently experiencing any symptoms? Our recommendation is NO. It's not worth the risk of having a major surgery when you aren't having any issues.
The American Society of Plastic Surgery and The American Aesthetic Society are both currently working with the FDA to look further into the issue and searching for the real answers.
This clip comes from the #PRpose Podcast with Nicole Myden. Dr. Richard Brown was featured to talk about all things plastic surgery and what you should consider if you're looking into it. You can find the whole interview here:
