Mr. Emick discusses his own battle with addiction. He evaluates the effect it had on his family, specifically the relationship with his father. Mr. Emick speaks of how art therapy helped him to overcome his struggles, and why that led him to pursue counseling as well. Originally an architect, Joe Emick is now a counselor at Caron Pennsylvania. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
