He said that the International Day of Yoga, which will be celebrated on June 21, marked a timeless practice that celebrated oneness and harmony. Last year, PM Modi led a yoga session at the United Nations (UN) Headquarters in New York in a historic celebration to commemorate the 9th International Day of Yoga. The event, which created a Guinness World Record, saw the participation of top UN officials, envoys and prominent individuals from over 180 countries.
Recognising its universal appeal, in December 2014, the UN proclaimed June 21 as the International Day of Yoga by a resolution. The day aims to raise awareness worldwide of the many benefits of practicing yoga.
