Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is the most common cause of bronchiolitis and pneumonia in children younger than 1 year of age in the U.S., making it the most frequent reason for hospitalization in that age group. It's also a major cause of infant mortality worldwide. That's why research is so important. Drs. Mark Peeples, Asuncion Mejias, and Octavio Ramilo are scientists in the Center for Vaccines and Immunity at The Research Institute at Nationwide Children's Hospital who are developing a vaccine to prevent RSV infections. And you can help too. Watch one family's dedication to research after losing their child to the virus.
