Representatives of the wine sector from all over Bulgaria gathered at Bessa Valley winery on 14 February 2021 to celebrate Trifon Zarezan – the ritual of cutting of the vines. This is the Bulgarian winemaking industry’s biggest annual celebration. This centuries-old tradition celebrates the ancient cult of Dionysus – the Greek god of the grape harvest, winemaking, wine and joy.
Special guests of the event were Desislava Taneva – Minister of Agriculture, Deputy Minister Lozana Vasileva, Vasil Grudev – Executive Director of State Fund for Agriculture, state and local officials, wine experts, wine-lovers, and many friends and partners of Bessa Valley winery.
The ice-cold weather and heavy snowfall on the day did not stop members of the Bulgarian winemaking industry to gather and wish for a healthy, fruitful and prosperous wine year 2021!
