Georgia high school students featured in 'racist' TikTok video that went viral 'no longer students,' school district says
A Georgia school district has condemned a viral TikTok video as “racially offensive” and added the two people in the video are “no longer students” at Carrollton High School.
In the viral clip, two young people in a bathroom pour water on a piece of paper in the sink that reads “n---ers.”
In a statement over the weekend, Dr. Mark Albertus, superintendent of the Carrollton City School District, condemned the behavior of the two people in the video, saying: “The racist behavior observed in the video easily violates this standard.”
“They are no longer students at Carrollton High School,” he added.
The two people in the video were not named by the school district, and it is not clear who old either of the two people are.
But the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the two were seniors at the school, and that they had been expelled.
David Brooks, principal of Carrollton High School, said the two should be held accountable for their behavior even if the video was record after school.
“It is our priority to keep our schools safe, and there is no doubt this incident has caused significant tension at Carrollton High School, across the district, state and nation – even the world,” Brooks continued.
“This incident does not reflect the culture of Carrollton City Schools,” Albertus added. “We are very proud of our diversity and so is our entire community. We don’t need to lose sight of this important attribute because of the actions of a few.”
