This is the first in a series of 4 online seminars to introduce you to S1000D.
This video gives a high level overview of S1000D. It outlines the basic requirements for working in S1000D and introduces the main principles of using the standard.
We will look at the elements you need to consider from a business perspective when starting out in S1000D, such as staff skills and training, business processes you may need to adopt, and the tools and technology that may help (or hinder!) your progress.
By learning from those with many years experience in implementing S1000D solutions, you can avoid the pitfalls many new users experience. There are many aspects of S1000D where it is easy for you to try and implement too much, or misunderstand the intent of the Specification in areas such as project codification and how to prepare your data to move to S1000D. Vendors intent on selling a product, rather than a solution will want you to buy lots of applications but then may set you loose with little or no guidance.
This series will give you the knowledge to plan a move to S1000D. To understand how much (or little) or the Specification you really need to use, to be clear on what you need to deliver, and so then plan effectively on your team and tools.
