Colorado Personal Injury Accident and Trial Lawyer D.J. Banovitz explains the terms "objection", "sustained" and "overruled" in a case.
If you've watched any legal dramas or movies with courtroom scenes, you've seen lawyers yell "Objection!" many times. But what does it mean? An objection simply means I don't agree with the other lawyer's statement and don't want the witness to answer. The judge will now give 1 of 2 answers -- "Sustained" or "Overruled". Sustained means that he agrees with me and the witness doesn't need to answer the unfair question. If the judge says overruled, he doesn't agree with me and the witness must answer. It's important to understand what can happen in your case and possible trial. Watch the video now to learn more.
